Peter Borden
Director, Search & Evaluation AbbVie
Current member of AbbVie’s S&E Neuroscience Team, with >10 years of neuroscience and biotech strategy experience, including PhD at Georgia Tech and Emory University, followed by the transition to Boston Consulting Group focused on biotech strategy. My search and evaluation efforts focus on the investigation of strategic opportunities for in-licensing early- and late-stage clinical assets, co-promotion/co-marketing partnerships, and acquisitions in diverse disease areas with a focus on CNS disorders. Within pain and related diseases, I lead the efforts for AbbVie’s recent deal with Haisco. Our S&E group evaluates all opportunities in Neuroscience and depending on the stage of the opportunity, we work with Ventures, BD or Technology Licensing Group Transaction Teams.
Seminars
- Assess how recent transactions, including Lilly’s acquisitions of SiteOne Therapeutics and 4E Therapeutics, and AbbVie’s licensing agreement with Haisco Pharmaceutical for HSK21542, are reshaping partnering and investment priorities across pain
- Define the translational, clinical and commercial evidence packages required to progress from early interest to competitive deal activity
- Explore which mechanisms, indications and patient populations are attracting the strongest external interest, from NaV1.8 inhibitors and peripheral targets through to neuroimmune and disease-modifying approaches
- Identify what differentiates a partnerable pain asset today, including target validation, patient selection strategy, clinical positioning and commercial potential
